Qualitative Research
I conducted a survey of 50 adults aged 18-30, asking them to reflect on their sex education and it's impact on their sexual health and wellness. Of the respondants, 75% concluded that their formal sex education did not cover what they needed to know. From there, I held a series of interviews to go deeper with 3 survey-respondants, discovering common learning formats and pathways in response to improper formal education.

Opportunity
A print guidebook works to be a reliable resource for puberty-aged youth,
asa constant they can return to, reflect with, and personally process. There are very few puberty and sex ed books that exist today that are inclusive to all bodies and pursues guidance and reflection. Taking an approach focused in similarity posed a unique design challenge.

Honeybirds is intended to be paired with a companion personal workbook, with prompted questions encouraging reflection on each chapter. This will create physical space for the learner to think about what they learned, how it relates to them, and how it makes them feel. I am developing this workbook now, with an accompanying sticker sheet for emotional naming and workbook personalization. Sale of Honeybirds to come soon!
