Emma Sulfsted Photography

Hey, I'm Emma!

I have over 10 years of experience in commercial photography, and I'm a 2023 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, with a Bachelors of Science in Communication Design. My origins in design come from a passion for photography.

All photographers have their "when I first picked up the camera..." stories.
When I was a child, I was always taking over my family's digital camera, which led to saving babysitting money for my first DSLR at 13 years old. From there, I began practice with self-portraits, teaching myself technical skills in my bedroom.

As a teenager, I began formal training at Sycamore High School. I learned film photography and darkroom development, and continued growth in composition, color, and more. Portraiture has been my main focus since then, and as my conceptual work grew, I also began photographing friends of mine for their senior portraits in 2015. At the end of high school, I received a Scholastics Gold for my photography portfolio Fragility, the American Vision Award, and Sycamore's Senior Photography Medallion.

In college, I continued to study photography in DAAP's Photodesign and Fine Arts Photography courses. Outside of scool, I led TITLE mag photography projects for seven print issues and went on to become the Creative Director of TITLE.

My commercial portraits have grown to feature warm tones, rich greens, and a muted, dreamy elegance. I work with every client individually to make sure that their photos fit their style, and every shoot is unique. Let's talk if you're interested in your own shoot!
